Walter Derylo





RAPIDCITY— Reverend Walter W. Derylo, 64, of Rapid City and formerly of Gaylord, passed away on Aug. 17, 2007, in Kalkaska. Born March 10, 1943, inGrand Rapids, he was the son of the late Walter F. and Irene (Burns) Derylo.

Father Walter was a member of the Archdiocese of Gaylord, and was ordained inRomein 1968. He had served parishioners in many places, including Alpena, Manistee,Grand Rapids, Kalkaska, Leelanau and the Grand Traverse area.

Father Walter was very active in the Boy Scouts, and enjoyed the outdoors, camping and backpacking. He had traveled all over the world. He was a wonderful brother, son and friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed.

Surviving Walter are his siblings, Mary (Bill) Geer, of Gurnee, Ill., Ken (Denise) Derylo of Grand Rapids and Valerie (Rick) Gravelyn of Grand Rapids; nieces and nephews, Erin Sykes, Captain Ryan Geer, Jillian Geer, Jacob Derylo, Sarah Derylo, Erika Derylo, Jaimie Derylo, Christopher Gravelyn, Angela Gravelyn, Laura Gravelyn and Melissa Gravelyn, and Rose Greenland; and Uncle Joseph (Doris) Stasiak of Grand Rapids.

Visitation will be this evening, Aug. 21, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Arsulowicz Funeral Home inWalker. Wednesday, Aug. 22, visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, with a scripture service at 8 p.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, at the church, with burial inHolyCrossCemetery.
