Pope Francis has appointed Bishop Mueggenborg bishop of Reno to succeed Bishop Calvo

Daniel Henry Mueggenborg is an American prelate of the Catholic Church and who serves as auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Seattle. On July 20, 2021 he was appointed bishop of Reno.

Rev. Msgr. Gregory Gordon named Auxiliary Bishop of Las Vegas
Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor Gregory Gordon as the Diocese of Las Vegas’ first auxiliary bishop.

WASHINGTON—Pope Francis has appointed the Rev. Msgr. Gregory Gordon as auxiliary bishop of Las Vegas. Bishop-elect Gordon is a priest of the Diocese of Las Vegas and currently serves as vicar general, chancellor, and moderator of the curia for the Diocese of Las Vegas. The appointment was publicized in Washington, D.C. on May 28, 2021 by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, apostolic nuncio to the United States.

Father James Golka succeeds Bishop Michael Sheridan, 76, who has headed the diocese since January 2003. Under church law, bishops must submit their resignation to the pope upon turning 75.

Crookston Bishop Michael Hoeppner retires
Most Rev.Michael Hoeppner has retired as of 4/13/2021

The Vatican said Pope Francis accepted the resignation of Crookston Bishop Michael Hoeppner on Tuesday and named a temporary replacement to run the diocese. Hoeppner is 71, four years shy of the normal retirement age for bishops.

Archbishop Gullickson, Papal Nuncio to Switzeland, to return to Sioux Falls

Pope Francis has accepted the resignation of Archbishop Thomas Gullickson, 70, who said “the Holy Father and I both think it is time. No real story to tell.” Archbishop Gullickson recently discussed his “firm conviction that the only future for the Church is in its recovery of integral Catholic worship according to the Vetus Ordo” [Old Ordo], as well as the urgency of “stepping back from the Novus Ordo, especially when it comes to Eucharistic reverence.”

Wilton Daniel Gregory (born December 7, 1947) is an American prelate of the Catholic Church who is the Archbishop of Washington. He was the Archbishop of Atlanta, from 2005 to 2019, the Bishop of Belleville, Illinois, from 1994 to 2004, and Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago from 1983 to 1994. He was president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) from 2001 to 2004.

Rev. Val Peter, 85, Class 1960, Casa 1966 died on June 30 in Omaha, NE. He had long been a benefactor of the college and was awarded the Founders Award at the Annual Alumni Reunion in 2012. He was well known for his work at Boys Town and retired in 2005.
